ALE-G MUSIC - PABLO’S PROBLEM

rev. 02/04/2023

Alejandro has produced over 14 full length projects over the years in his “Playing It By Ear” studio. Over the holidays, after one of the songs came up in his shuffle play, Alejandro decided to re-master a 2003 project with a Buffalo band who sang in Russian, Systema.

During the break between his two stints in Chloroform, he performed with Covered Your Ass. He was fortunate enough to document the project, recording live in the studio (no overdubs). Gritty and raw, it’s no wonder this trio is “Buffalo’s Most Original Cover Band.”

Because his friends called him “Ale-G”, the artist began using that name for his recorded solo projects, but soon found that it is way too common, so opted to re-use the Pablo’s Problem name for his original songs, available everywhere you get your music. “May In Zandaam” features Diana Mangano (Jefferson Starship, Steve Kimock, Todd Rundgren) and Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin & Wood).

“Men of Poor Beginnings” and chloroform mixes on soundcloud and many songs uploaded on reverbnation), where Ale-G hovers in the singer/songwriter top ten chart chart for Buffalo! As new projects are completed, they will be posted on reverbnation, bandcamp, and soundcloud. His earliest musical project? Equanka, while at SUNY Fredonia, followed by Quintet - which morphed into Gazeuse! Their “Pet Anxieties” CD was released by Humble Lion Musik in 1995.

In 2015, Ale-G collaborated with a number of musicians in the Buffalo area, mostly around the open mic at The Tudor Lounge. The physical CD is available here. Although Alejandro was then performing with Chloroform, they declined to participate. https://playingitbyear.bandcamp.com/album/-

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the internationally syndicated experimental radio series Playing It By Ear, produced while at SUNY Fredonia, Alejandro re-mastered the final 5 episodes. The first 8 episodes are here. The link above is to the opening sound collage for the 10th episode.

Håarm is an audio adventure, cinema for the imagination that evolved from improvisations with guitarist Gary Bock (Quintet, Gazeuse!). Alejandro developed this approach to music-making in the internationally syndicated experimental radio series Playing It By Ear - click to hear the first 8 episodes. My newest things in this vein are included in the CD, link above.
