Victoria SERIES (2009-21)

The orange in these paintings has a deep meaning for me - it was my good friend, musician and producer Michael Klein who insisted - “it’s the new black.”  We were like brothers, and he was right.  Orange is the color of warning, of increased attention, of adrenalin.  It is a color that I have been told repeatedly not to use, as it would hurt sales - Christo was warned as well.  Fortunately, he didn’t listen either.

This series of paintings is inspired by the Vancouver ferry sunset photographs. It was a career-highlight trip when I flew my staff to Vancouver, B.C. for an immigration law conference. We took the last ferry ride back from the Island, and it was a magical experience. I had just taken delivery of my Nikon D-600, so I was not well versed in how to work it, but it was an endless sunset, and I had a large enough memory card, so I embraced glitches and favored long exposures. I also published a limited edition hard-cover photo book memorializing the magical event.

Thank you so much. You may not fully appreciate waht your support means to a living artist.
