ABSTRAKTES BILD SERIES (2011-12)

In these works, German for “abstract painting,” I have returned to the materials and techniques that cemented my adult painting drive - the oil enamels that I began to use in my first large scale abstract paintings of the late 80’s while a student in University.  The spark to create these works comes from Gerhard Richter’s year-end exhibit at Marian Goodman, with a nod to Charles Clough.  A related series of diptychs, using the same techniques and executed in both  enamels and acrylics have been placed in their own page titled “Pairings”.

“Abstraktes Bild-30” was placed in a private collection by Saatchi Online Gallery, also featured: “Abstraktes Bild 48” in “Art We Love This Week 10/11/11”, and it made it past the first round of the showdown competition!
